Quantum-South completes the IoT Tribe Acceleration Program in Europe

July 28th, 2020

Quantum-South successfully completes the IoT Tribe Space Endeavor Acceleration Program Cohort #1, creating a solution for Opex efficiency through cargo load optimization using quantum computing. The program was led by IoT Tribe CEO Tanya Suarez and Programme Coordinator Joao Guerra. During June-July 2020, Space Endeavour has accelerated 13 space tech startups pioneering technologies across verticals. From start-ups that rely on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data solutions for real time, resilient macroeconomic forecasting, to companies that identify and detect oil pollution through orbiting satellites or cargo optimisation using Quantum Computing technology, our cohort has a range of distinctive technologies and market-ready solutions.

Based in London (United Kingdom), IoT Tribe accelerates the growth and adoption of disruptive technologies globally. As a trusted partner to corporates, government agencies, investors, startups, SMEs and other ecosystem players across industry verticals worldwide, IoT Tribe brings together communities where tech talent and partnerships can thrive.

IoT Tribe enables corporates and the public sector to disrupt the future through fast-track technology adoption and co-creation, data-driven insights, white-label accelerators, support for intrapreneurship and corporate venturing. IoT Tribe achieve this through a unique, highly collaborative and curated technology ecosystem that drives disruption. It offers its partners unparalleled access to technologies and partnerships that can fuel their businesses and startups access to an equity-free accelerator that help them scale.

The IoT Tribe Space Endeavour Accelerator Programme intends to expand the impact and adoption of European Spacetech by bringing together Space startups, SMEs, entrepreneurs and the IoT ecosystem to increase commercial relevance of the technologies across industrial sectors and accelerate their access to market and/or scaling.

Taking European spacetech, integrated surveillance networks, data from Copernicus, satellites, and micro constellations for secure communication, computer vision from fighter pilots, and integrating into market-ready solutions across verticals.

Quantum-South was selected as one of the startups for the Cohort #1, where startups and founders joined an intensive 2-month acceleration programme with 13 space technology companies, in different stages of maturation but with equal growth ambitions. Quantum-South had the opportunity to work with a wide range of tech experts, business coaches, mentors and strategic partners to grow the business globally.

With this program, Quantum-South emerges using quantum computing for Opex efficiency through cargo load optimization. Determining the optimal loading strategy for goods in different vehicles, such as boats, aircrafts, trains or trucks is complex. Intrinsic factors such as perishability, the value of the goods as well as extrinsic factors such as when and where a container is due to be unloaded, all have an impact on cargo configurations.

Freight management is complicated and cargo optimization is at the core of the profitability of the whole supply chain. Optimizing loading currently involves calculations that do not take account of many of the variables that would truly impact profitability and reputation within the logistics industry. A 1% increase in Cargo Load Factor unlocks a 1.6% gain in revenue.

Quantum-South’s beachhead market is cargo in airlines and vessels leveraging quantum computing software, by identifying the optimal selection of individual packages to be transported by maximizing the weight transported in each trip, subject to the load and volume constraints of the aircraft.
