APSO now available on IATA’s Open API Hub

Our product Automatic Package Selection and Ordering (APSO), is designed to assist airlines, cargo handlers, and warehouse operators in optimizing package selections during loading scenarios. Delivered as a Software as a Service through our API, APSO specifically addresses the challenges faced by the air cargo industry in terms of capacity utilization. This tool empowers users to achieve optimal selection and ordering of packages within Unit Load Devices (ULDs), resulting in maximized load factors and streamlined aircraft loading.

Today, we are delighted to announce the publication of our APSO API on International Air Transportation Association’s (IATA) Open API Hub. Our solution for air cargo optimization is now available for testing through the industry’s open data environment.

About IATA Open API Hub

IATA’s Open API Hub is a repository for any Airline Industry organization to discover and collaborate with APIs from other trusted industry providers. The Open API Hub allows you to connect to APIs to quickly build partnerships, promote competition and to efficiently bring new products to the market.

To API Providers such as Quantum-South, the Hub enables us to showcase our solutions at the highest industry standards, develop partnerships and monitor user adoption. To API consumers, this repository centralizes APIs facilitating API discovery and onboarding, which means you can find, understand, test and communicate with APIs, from the same environment.

Understanding APSO’s capabilities

APSO is a quantum-inspired optimization tool designed to streamline cargo selections and allocations, offered as a SaaS through our API. It leverages quantum computing principles to provide increased cargo load factors in load planning scenarios. Given available AWBs to be loaded in a flight and usable containers, APSO returns optimal load plans for each container considering multiple optimization objectives (priority mix, revenue, weight, volume) and diverse constraints (SHC compatibilities, container capacity weight, fragile items, and more).

The APSO API token on the IATA Hub is limited in AWBs for free demo testing, so you can try out capabilities and align data structures. If you want to scale up testing, you can contact our sales team, and for more on product functionalities and considerations, see our APSO brochure and our demo video.

At the heart of APSO lies a business-oriented approach to tackling the challenging “Bin-Packing Problem”. Our journey with this problem has been transformative, with Proof-of-Concepts conducted with industry leaders like IAG Cargo and Amerijet International. Notably, these collaborations yielded remarkable results, with capacity utilization increasing by up to 30%.

We’ve progressed to the deployment of APSO through our API and the establishment of long-term partnerships. This progression showcases the tangible impact and adaptability of our solution in real-world scenarios. We’re simultaneously looking to extend the applicability of our algorithms along the logistics chain.
