Quantum-South’s Automatic ULD Selection and Ordering Algorithm is designed to optimize the loading strategy for ULDs in aircraft to maximize loading while respecting all applicable Load Control restrictions. The program uses quantum algorithms to solve the problem and provide a cargo configuration scheme that specifies the location in the aircraft for each of the ULDs selected by the algorithm for all cargo bays. The algorithm can be set to optimize different business functions, such as cargo priority, cargo space utilization, and cargo revenue, and can also be configured for multi-objective optimization.

Main Functionalities:

Automatic ULD Selection: The program takes the info of all ready-to-load ULDs, the aircraft model, and other aircraft-related variable information, such as max weight capacity and fuel weight, to select the optimal ULDs to load on the aircraft.

Cargo Configuration Scheme: The program returns a cargo configuration scheme that specifies the location in the aircraft for each of the ULDs selected by the algorithm for all cargo bays. The characteristics of the algorithm allow it to create aircraft cargo configurations that respect all applicable Load Control restrictions. Critical review charts like the position of the center of mass in the flight envelope and the shear force/cumulative load curve are always provided in the solution.

Load Control Compliance: The new release of the ULD selection and ordering algorithm features a load control compliance module built by following plane-specific Weight and Balance manuals, the input of SMEs and the incorporation of real aircraft data. The algorithm considers the following load control restrictions:

  • Running Load Limits
  • Floor Load Limits
  • Cumulative Load Limits
  • Unsymmetrical Payload Constraints

Feasible Spatial Configurations: The algorithm also respects feasible spatial configurations for ULDs, taking into account specific floor clamps for different ULD sizes in different locations and geometrical contour restrictions that must be met by the located ULD.

Multi-Objective Optimization: The algorithm can be set to optimize different business functions, such as cargo priority, cargo space utilization, and cargo revenue, and can also be configured for multi-objective optimization.

Other Functionalities:

Recognition of Frequently Used ULD Types: The algorithm recognizes frequently used ULD types in main and lower bays, such as PMC, AKE, and RKN.

Recognition of Commonly Used SHCs: The algorithm also recognizes commonly used Special Handling Codes, such as ATC, AVI, and HUM.
